Frequently asked questions
How long can I stay and what is your changeover day?
In the summer months, Hebrides House is available to book for weeklong stays. Our changeover day is Saturday.
What booking options do you offer?
Throughout the year, you can book the whole property, which includes the main house and the annexe (which is accessible via a corridor within the main house). Together this includes four kingsized bedrooms, a single cabin bed plus trundle, four bathrooms and the two living spaces.
In the low season, the whole property is available to book for short breaks (from Saturday to Tuesday).
In the low season, you can also book the house in the following configurations:
The whole house, same as the summer months
For smaller groups you can book the main house, which has three king-sized bedrooms and a single cabin bed plus trundle for kids
For couples, you can book the annexe, which is a king-sized bed for two (accessible only via one side).
What are your check in and check out times?
Our Saturday arrival time is 4pm and departure time is 10am. If other guests are coming on the same day as you there is no option to have a late leaving time, as we require the time to prepare for the next guests. If we have other guests coming on the same day and you haven’t left by 10am we will charge a reasonable sum for any costs incurred by us.
What is included in my booking?
Your booking includes everything to ensure you have a comfortable and relaxing stay at Hebrides House. You have all the basic supplies including bed linen, bath towels, tea towels, logs, toilet paper, cleaning products, hand wash, washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets, refuse and recycling bags, store cupboard essentials such as cooking oil, balsamic vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper.
Also included is a welcome hamper featuring local products plus a complimentary bottle of Isle of Lewis gin.
Do you accept dogs?
Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome in Hebrides House, however they are not to go upstairs, on the beds or any furniture. An additional cleaning fee of £50 is charged at the point of booking.
Please bring your own dog towels to clean your dog and dry their feet before entering the property after a walk. You can use the outdoor shower with the handheld hose to give them a warm wash after a walk. Please also bring their own bedding, towels and food bowls.
The garden around Hebrides House is fenced (and a cattle grid at the end of the driveway), however the property is in the middle of a croft which may have sheep or horses on it. Please do keep your dog on a lead until you reach the beach and are far away from livestock.
If you have a dog that is likely to chase animals we suggest you keep it on the lead at all times.
We don’t accept any other pets beyond dogs, however if you have a question about pets, please do get in touch.
Do you accept toddlers and small children?
Babes in arms are welcome and we have a toddler travel cot with bedding if required, plus a high chair and toys for toddlers, however beyond these facilities the house hasn’t been adapted for small children (there are no stair gates for example), so if you have adventurous toddlers you might want to take that into account.
Please be aware that there are two wood burning stoves and an outside fire pit so if you are travelling with toddlers or small children we’d recommend not using these facilities (guests are responsible for the safety of all in their group while staying at Hebrides House).
Is your property accessible?
Yes, we have an accessible bedroom with a kingsized bed in the downstairs of the main house, and an accessible bathroom. Outside the property there is tarmac and Caithness tiles, which are wheelchair accessible.
How many people can stay in Hebrides House?
Ten people plus a baby/toddler in the travel cot can stay at Hebrides House. There are four kingsized beds in the property. Two are upstairs in the main house and one downstairs (which is also accessible). In the annexe, the fourth kingsized bed is upstairs in a built-in cosy cabin area - please be aware this is only accessible from one side.
Separately there is another bedroom with a single bed plus a trundle bed that can be used either for two children or an adult. In total, Hebrides House sleeps eight adults & two kids, or nine adults (plus a baby/toddler in a travel cot in both instances).
What is mobile reception and internet connectivity like?
Hebrides House’s internet connection is via Starlink. The house has multiple wifi points throughout the house for you to use.
In most of Uig, there is very little or no mobile reception unless you are with EE. The house has no mobile reception from any other provider, and there is no phoneline.
